Pranayama, breath and abundance. {deep inhale in} Pranayama or yoga breathing is a way to connect the body with the mind. {deep exhale out} Depending on who you speak with, it can include yoga or simple breath work. {deep inhale in} I am fascinated by the breath work aspect of it. Click here for a detailed description of pranayama and it’s many forms. {deep exhale out}
Breath is so simple. It’s always there and ready to help you explore.
About a year ago, I took a writing class that included some breath work. I now believe it was a form of pranayama. But what is really interesting to me is breath and abundance. Is it possible to use breath to enhance abundance and to erase limiting beliefs? The breath is a gateway connection the body to higher consciousness. As I discover more about breath work and it’s benefits, I’ll be sure to update you.
In the mean time, take a deep breath, and be good to yourself.
P.S. Let me know about your experience with breath in the comments.

Hi Debbie,
Breath work is amazing. I am always teaching clients about their breathing. Our breath is a biofeedback system. Teaching children to breathe correctly can help with their learning, attention deficit and many other conditions. I think that entrepreneurs should be encouraged to learn how to breathe correctly and their results will explode!
Thanks for a great article and a beautiful blog. what a joy to visit!

Hi Clare,
Thank you for the lovely compliments. It’s amazing that babies almost always breathe properly, yet by the time they become adults, they have lost it. You are so right about the important impact breathing can have on people. I’m really enjoying my exploration of breath.

Great post Debbie,
Years ago I did a lot of rebirthing and became a practitioner. It transformed my life.
Apart from expelling a large amount of toxins, there is incredible healing power in the breath. It enabled me to disperse years of conditioning, negative emotions I had bottled up inside me, and set me on my current path.
It enabled me to reach levels of higher consciousness, have visions, and remove pain from my body. Amazing stuff.
Hi John,
I’m just starting to discover these things about breath. It’s a fascinating topic and I am already enjoying benefits from it. I love the release of emotions and toxins. It is so powerful.

Debbie

Great post, Debbie! I know that, because of my running days, I can get a lot of air in whenever I breathe, so the irony is that in some of these group sessions that involve “deep breaths,” I actually find myself taking a lot longer than the class
However, a lot of times, I’ve noticed that when I can actually get a deeper breath on my own pace, I can find myself calming down as I do.

Hi Steve,
When I was a runner, I used to compete in local races. I learned a long time ago that breathing through your nose lowers your heart-rate almost instantly. Any time I’m feeling anxious, I always use that to center myself.

Debbie
Great advice Debbi! It’s amazing how easy it is to fall into holding your breath or breathing very shallow when you’re stressed or anxious. Simply taking the time to breath deeply can do wonders to calm the nerves!

Debbie,
Completely agree with you that breathing is so crucial to being able to “enhance your abudance and to erase limiting beliefs”. I use deep breathes all the time to control my thoughts and where I am going with my business.

Hi Andy,
It’s so great to see so many people so involved with breath. I guess I’m late to the party, but I’m glad I’m finally here. I’ve never used breath to control my thoughts. I’ll have to try that, thanks.

There seems to be a trend. Breath work has been a popular topic lately. It keeps coming up and at my yoga class on Wed. we did pretty much all breath work. I heard this quote, ‘Western man breathes from his nasal – the eastern breathes from his naval.’ Pretty cool. West – east – I suppose they meant enlightened and not. Namaste~
Looking forward on your updates.. I never heard of breath work.. But it sounds exciting to read about..

Hi Debbie,
This is interesting. I was researching about some tips for jogging and I found out that breathing deep while jogging helps you gain more energy. I think there’s more to breathing that I should discover. Looking forward to know more about this topic in your future posts.

Hi Debbie,
It’s interesting this idea of breath and relation to writing. I have audio recorded myself working and have noticed that at certain moments I will stop and take a deep breath and sigh. Kind of like I’m releasing some kind of tension through it and able to keep working. I wonder if there is a relation to that. And also if it is better for productivity to take deep breaths more often.. I haven’t yet studied this deeply. It does intrigue me though…

Eren

Hi Eren,
Breath is an amazing thing. I am sure that more oxygen to the brain equals more productivity. My workflow process includes brief moments when I stand and breathe deeply, as in yoga. I am convinced it allows me to be more productive with less stress. You should test it yourself and let me know how it goes.

Hi Debbie,
I am just as amazed as you are regarding breathing. I have also read a lot of books especially about health and really the first thing you can do in any situation, mild or severe panic, post op, disturbed mind etc, is deep breathing. It can help you relax and think effectively.
Pranayama is a good way of connecting body with the mind.I have done Pranayama many times.I feel relax after doing Pranayama. Thanks for describing it.
I was introduced to pranayama breathing a little over a year ago when I began taking Bikram Yoga classes. At the beginning of each class, we spend about 5 or so minutes doing deep-breathing exercises, which the instructor says “will empty your lungs of toxins while expanding and strengthening them, while connecting the mind and the body.” We are supposed to use this time to focus, and block out everything in the room except the teacher’s voice. Throughout the class, during the most sweaty and agonizing moments, the teacher reminds you to breathe, and it helps tremendously. I always feel myself regress back in to a state of calmness. I find myself practicing pranayama breathing in times of stress, and it helps me to space-out, or relax, so to speak. I have not heard this term outside of yoga class, and it is very interesting to see it here.
I visited India a couple years back and stayed there for almost 3 full months and I attended Yoga through a friend and It was really a great experience. I attended 20 days class and they taught basic yoga and I was practicing it till now. Its all about deep inhaling and slow exhaling. Savasanam which is like lying on the ground with deep inhale & exhale will make you feel like flying and your body will be very perfect and you always feel fresh. Also…this yoga is the best one to stay young.
