Total Alignment | Balance

Total Alignment – Balance is the second painting from the free workshop series over at Dirty Footprints Studio. Connie Hozvicka shares a process she calls Fearless Painting and combines it with some yummy yoga. This workshop helps you get in alignment with the truth about who you really are. It aligns mind, body and spirit.

The reason I love this series so much is because Connie uses art as a way to connect with your authentic self. I love how she says that you don’t even have to like what you paint. That the important part is the process.

For those of you willing to take courage and explore paint and process, you definitely should take this workshop.

I choose my inner balance
It does not choose me

I easily manage the swirling wind
I close my eyes and breathe

Aaaahhhhhhhh

Here is an introductory video to the Total Alignment – Balance workshop.

And this is the speed painting version.

I have been very creative in my life and drawing has always been a great outlet for me. So the idea of using the act of painting to help balance yourself and to became more closer with yourself to me makes alot of sense. I think everyone should find some kind of creative outlet, even if they are not good at it, thank you for posting.

Hi Marcus,

Finding a creative outlet is especially beneficial in these challenging times. If you ask people who garden or have other hobbies, they all say they lose track of time while they are enjoying their passion. That has to be good for the mind-body-spirit.

One Love,
Debbie

Hi Debbie,

great to see your art unfolding.

It is good to know that you don’t have to like your own ‘art’.
Looking at yours what is not to like?

I am still drawing stick figures (last one was stuck in quick sand being pounded wave after wave, my little girl, she needs a lot of reassurance)

Thank you for sharing your paintings. They inspire me to have a go!
Cheers,
Yorinda

Debbie, thanks for your great information. I used to do yoga few years ago, then; my schedule became so busy, so I said. I noticed the balance I had in my whole life, exactly what you mentioned. I am looking to make myself available and follow your guidance.

Debbie, ya made that look pretty darned easy!!

Not sure if I would be brave enough to sign up for a class!

Thanks Carla,

It’s a free workshop that you do in you own home. Connie shares that the only thing you need to think about while your painting is line, shape and area. When you get stuck about what to do next, you simply add a line, a shape or fill in an area. And there is no wrong way to do it.

I can honestly say that the benefits override the challenges.

Debbie

Great series here about finding your inner peace! It is so different for everyone and yet universally we all have that same feeling of relaxation and contentment when we do find it.

Hello Debbie,

I really loved what you say: “I choose my inner balance, It does not choose me”.

Art has always been a form of self therapy. It may not have always worked (ask Picasso) but as a general rule, putting your emotions on a canvas can truly unleash your true self!

Thanking you so much for sharing

Hi Stevie,

Wow, think about what Picasso would have been like if he hadn’t painted. I’ve really been enjoying the series at Dirty Footprints Studio. It’s amazing how good it makes me feel.

I’m glad you enjoy them. The music I use on the painting videos comes from YouTube. I love the diversity of music they have. The music I use on my narrated video was made especially for me by Paul Abrahams

Hi Ken,

I love that quote too. It helps take the pressure off those of us with minimum painting skills. The workshop is really fantastic. I love the feeling I have while painting and the joy I have afterward. I’m never disappointed, even if I don’t like the painting afterward.

I believe the finer points of Balance are different for each person. But, in the end, it’s about achieving harmony with the many aspects of your being (inner and outer), and not letting any one particular aspect rule your life or overrule your reason.

Hi Sonny,

That is so true that balance is individual. And it also changes from time to time. I know when I’m particularly stressed, I seek peace and quiet. And when I’m celebrating successes, I’m love celebrating with a group of people.

If I’m unable to get the balance I need, creating art seems to make up the difference.

Debbie

Great stuff Debbie, art is absolutely about a connection with oneself. This is why art is always so unique..looking at one’s art too can really tell a lot about a person.

Debbie,

I really admire your creativity. Artists express themselves through their fields like painting, etc. Sometimes it is hard for me to interpret the paintings of others. And I am just so amazed how they convert their feelings into visual ones.

Reply

Debbie October 4, 2011 at 5:21 am

Hi Gregg,

When I discover a piece of art that is confusing to me, I try to ask the question, “How does it make me feel?’ And whatever the answer is, that is the interpretation I go with. And sometimes the answer is, “Wow, this makes me confused.”

I know what you mean about converting feelings to images. Sometimes it’s breathtaking.

One Love,
Debbie
